Velké Losiny and regional information
Velké Losiny is a popular destination for recreation, holidays, and therapeutic stays in northern Moravia. The local thermal sulfur springs have a very beneficial effect on the treatment of the musculoskeletal system, rheumatism, the nervous system, and skin diseases.
The most visited attractions in Velké Losiny include the spa thermal pool in the spa building and the new thermal park with several pools with healing thermal water, saunas, and massages. Other attractions include the spa park and historical monuments such as Velké Losiny Castle and the famous handmade paper mill, which houses a paper production museum. There is a public sauna with refreshments 500 meters away at the football stadium.
Not far from here are the Jeseníky Mountains with a whole range of hiking trails and many ski slopes. Less than 8 km away in Kouty nad Desnou is the newly opened, state-of-the-art ski resort in Czechia with two two-kilometer slopes. Červenohorské sedlo is only 18 km away, and several buses a day run to the top from the nearby bus stop.
Hiking tours along the peaks of the Jeseníky Mountains are a popular way to spice up your summer vacation. Other possible trips include a visit to the unique Dlouhé Stráně pumped storage hydroelectric power plant, combined with an excursion to the waterworks. The dam offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
